From Saturday holidaymakers and skiers can no longer to France from the UK, even if they are double jabbed. According to a statement issued by the French government, travellers must have a “compelling reason” which does not include “travel for tourist or professional reasons.”  French citizens and their spouses, partners and children will still be able to return to France from the UK.

Where there is a compelling reason, travellers from the UK this is now the drill:

  • Register on a digital platform in advance of their trip to submit details of where they are staying.
  • Provide a negative Covid test taken within 24 hours of travel (reduced from 48 hours0.
  • All UK arrivals must quarantine for seven days, although they may leave isolation after 48 hours subject to taking a second Covid test and receiving a negative result from an antigen or PCR test.

A spokesman for the French government Gabriel Attal said:

“Tourism or business travel for people who are not resident in France will be restricted from Saturday. There needs to be “essential reasons” for travelling to France. This includes residency or having family in the country.”
